ABOUT ME
I have lived in Coos County for most of my life, and graduated from North Bend High School. I remember being a student there and making a promise with some other students that someday we would run for the school board. What got us so worked up is lost to history, but the idea remained that school boards do something very important for students.
I was on the Bandon School Board from 2000 to 2008. I started with completing a term for someone who moved away, and ended with being elected in 2001 and 2005 to Position 1. I left the school board to become a student myself at SWOCC, graduating from nursing school in 2010. I worked at Bay Area Hospital for almost ten years in various departments. As a chemo nurse, I felt that I was performing a useful and important function and I preferred that to wringing my hands, wondering what I could do to help.
It’s kind of the same thing with running for school board again. The state of the world has me wringing my hands once more, and again, I wanted a useful and important job that would make a difference.
I believe that our school board, working together, can make a difference for our students.
